Link’s Awakening is my favourite Zelda game to date. I love the art, the music, the dungeons, the cuccos, BowWow the chain chomp… I digress… This arrangement stemmed from just playing around and coming up with the opening two measures. I imagine what a film score version of the game’s ending might sound like…

I love the vibe that this game’s soundtrack creates. This arrangement doesn’t create that same feeling—nor was I attempting to, but it is whimsical, which is also pretty cool. I’m happy I could take the source material and explore it a bit.

Don’t Be Afraid (Final Fantasy VIII)
Hadn’t done an ‘allegro’ arrangement in a while, so here’s a brief section of the 5/4 battle theme from FFVIII. Single-note ostinato in the left hand, lots of octave jumping, slight reharmonization. Yipee! My thumb has a blister now.
