I decided to take a different route with this arrangement; it’s not overly complicated, but those tense altered chords make me think of a world where Pokémon was a silent film accompanied by a live pianist! Also in 7/8.

ABZÛ (theme)
So far, I’ve only seen a short trailer for ABZÛ online, but the music has a great oceanic atmosphere. I tried to make the coloring seem underwater-ly as well.

Civil (FTL)
The best word I could find to describe the FTL soundtrack is “Atmosphere”. It’s smooth, relaxing vibe is something I wanted to capture with this sketch/arrangement. FTL could benefit from more piano arrangements… Hmmm.

Vagrant Story (the “Joshua” theme)
I consider there to be two main themes in Vagrant Story: the “good” theme, and the “evil” theme. This is my variation on the good theme, I consider to be the “Joshua Bardorba” theme. Triplet ostinatos in the left hand contrasting the duplet melody in the right hand before a swell to chordal climax.

Reflecting on Nibelheim (“On That Day, Five Years Ago…” FF7)
The main theme of FF7 has so many good variations, but I always find this version to be my favourite. I enjoyed adding inner moving lines and tensions, and imagine this might sound nice played by strings…
